On Saturday May 19th @ 6:10 am Fire Alarm dispatched all companies to a reported structure fire at the old Lydall & Foulds building located at 650 Parker St. Additional reports indicated a fire inside a compactor inside the building.

A bill that would make certain local firefighters eligible for workers' compensation coverage for mental or emotional damage has passed the CT House of Representatives. The Bill HB 5233 was co-sponsored by District 12 Representative (D) Geoff Luxenberg of Manchester.

The first 3 months of 2012 saw a spike in fire duty for members of Local 1579. There were 10 working fires within the town, 7 for MFRE and 3 for the 8th District Volunteers. There were 2-2nd Alarms with the most serious being Manchester Auto Body on Main St an explosion with exposure fires. No serious injuries to our members were reported. Keep up the good work .
