The Professional Fire Fighters of Manchester, IAFF Local 1579 regret to announce the passing of Harold C. Pohl, "Pinky" as he was known to all.  Pinky joined the South Manchester Fire Department on March 4, 1954. He was instrumental in organizing Local 1579 IAFF, Pinky served as the first president of our local from 1966 to 1974.  Today, the Officers and Members of local 1579 still enjoy the benefits of Pinky's hard work and devotion to our Local.  We offer our condolences to his family, and without Pinky the future of this local would be uncertain.  Pinky will be missed, but he will never forgotten by the Men and Women of the Professional Fire Fighters of Manchester IAFF Local 1579.

Calling hours are Thursday December 15, 2011 at 08:00 am., at Holmes Funeral Home in Manchester. A short funeral service will be held at 11:00 am with a burial immediately following the service.
